In addition to the anti-reflective properties of nano-silicon, Bandgap’s technology enables a marked improvement in light absorption compared to bare, crystalline silicon.
Specifically, over a wide range of wavelengths the absorption of nano-silicon is enhanced as shown in the graph below. This enables nano-silicon to absorb more light in a thinner layer of silicon. This improvement has the potential to make a large impact on both cell efficiency and direct manufacturing cost.
