Bandgap's nanowire-enhanced solar cell designs combine low-cost processing with crystalline silicon to yield high-efficiency products. Our highly tunable silicon nanowires make these designs possible, leading to solar power cost-competitive with the grid. We are also developing our silicon nanowires for high-capacity Li-ion battery anodes.
Our motivations are many and varied. We want to mitigate the impact of humans on climate change and ease the global political tensions caused by competition for scarce fossil fuels. As parents we are inspired to leave the world a better place for our children and their children. As entrepreneurs we love the thrill of a startup and think our technology represents a very, very good business opportunity.
